In my creative practice I use glass to explore ideas of identity and belonging through an ecological model; using constructs such as gender, social class, and language I frame interpersonal relationships and self identity. I use mediums ranging from spoken and written word to video to encapsulate the ubiquity of glass. Glass relates to the human experience not only in its physical and cyclical properties but also its pervasive existence as a material in functional and creative realms. My work bridges the distance between identity and belonging in the larger context of generational relationships and institutions to reconcile cognitive discomfort in the imagined versus the actualized.
